Prospective Out-of-State Cadets
Financial incentives for prospective out-of-state students
The Clemson Corps generously awards annual scholarships to Air Force cadets at Detachment 770. The Clemson Corps out-of-state waiver is a benefit designed as a recruiting tool to grant incoming Air Force ROTC cadets in-state tuition. Upon your acceptance to Clemson University and receipt of the application, you will be considered for a waiver granting tuition at the in-state rate.
This grant will provide cadets with the following:
- In-state tuition for Fall and Spring ("O/S Tuition School" on Clemson account).
- At a minimum, a $250 scholarship for the Fall and Spring semesters.
This offer is valid for one year only, provided you meet Air Force ROTC and the standards listed in items 1-7 below. Continuation of this waiver beyond one year is not guaranteed, as these waivers are limited, and priority is always given to incoming first-year students and underclassmen. Any previous out-of-state recruiting scholarship and/or non-resident need-based grant offer(s) cannot be combined with this waiver.
To remain eligible for the Clemson Corps out-of-state waiver through the Spring semester (and potentially the semesters beyond the first year), you must complete and meet the following:
- Be enrolled as a cadet in an AFROTC class.
- Pass the AF Physical Training (PT) test each semester, obtaining a score of 85 or better.
- Attain a grade of "B" or better in all ROTC classes.
- Maintain a term GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Earn no grade lower than a "C" in credit-earning courses (to include an "I," "WF," "F," or "NP" in the "P/NP" class).
- Maintain full-time student status of 12 semester hours for the entire semester.
- Remain in good standing for the entire semester, including civil involvements that generate a conditional event, attendance at Leadership Laboratory and PT as required, and the inability to request special student status.
Exceptions to these standards may be considered on a case-by-case basis and can be made at the discretion of the detachment commander. Furthermore, by accepting this waiver, you will not incur any commitment to the Air or Space Force.
