Job offers require preparation. This begins your first year and continues until you receive your degree(s). You are currently "writing" your resume through your selection of coursework, activities and work experience. You want to "write" a resume that will distinguish you, get you noticed by recruiters and bring you interviews. Careers do not happen; they are made!
What financial path do I want to take?
- Financial Management Career Paths: This article provides basic information on careers in investment banking, corporate finance, financial planning and commercial banking and describes the personality and skill set necessary to be successful in each environment.
- Real Estate Career Paths: This site provides basic information on careers in residential and commercial brokerage, appraisal and property management, among others, in the real estate field.
- Financial Certifications: This article identifies different financial certifications that may be obtained through education, testing and/or experience. These certifications are described, and links are given to their sponsoring organizations, where they are described in more detail and provide the educational, testing and/or experience required to obtain the certification.

How do I get a job?
- The Office of Career and Global Engagement is a great starting resource for finance majors – they offer individualized career coaching and professional development workshops and coordinate the Tiger Ties Mentoring Program.
- The Michelin Career Center is another resource that provides similar services at the University-wide level and should be utilized by students in their job search.
- In addition, our faculty and student organizations are constantly striving to connect our students with employers through on-campus and off-campus events.
