Adam specializes in moral psychology and the philosophy of mind and cognitive science. The main focus of his research is the nature of social understanding, with an emphasis on how the social dimensions of human existence offer more general insights into the workings of our minds. Adam's current work focuses on topics such as animal minds, joint action, imitation, moral character, and the social aspects of self-knowledge. He also maintains teaching and research interests in ethics, 19th century philosophy, philosophy of social science, and aesthetics (esp. philosophy of film).
