Steven Grosby, PhD, The Committee on Social Thought of The University of Chicago, is Emeritus Professor of Religion at Clemson University, South Carolina. His books include Nations and Nationalism in World History (Routledge, 2022), Hebraism in Religion, History, and Politics: The Third Culture (Oxford, 2021), Nationalism: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford, 2005), Biblical Ideas of Nationality: Ancient and Modern (Eisenbrauns, 2002), and the translation of Hans Freyer’s Theory of Objective Mind: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Culture (Series in Continental Thought, Ohio, 1998). Among his edited works are three volumes of Edward Shils’ writings, The Virtue of Civility, The Calling of Education, and A Fragment of a Sociological Autobiography.
