Layne is currently Adjunct Percussion Instructor at Clemson University, where she teaches applied lessons in all areas of percussion, in addition to working with the percussion ensemble. She is also the Director of Percussion at Legacy Early College Elementary School in Greenville, SC, where she teaches world percussion to second through fourth graders and directs the honors percussion ensemble. She actively composes pieces that her percussion ensemble performs and frequently collaborates with the string and choir directors at her school, providing her students with well-rounded experiences as performers. Additionally, she serves on faculty at DRUM Percussion Studio in Greenville, SC, where she teaches private lessons, world percussion classes, and assists with the percussion ensemble. As a performer, she is a founding member of Catch 22 Duo, in addition to performing as a freelance percussionist and drummer throughout the greater Greenville area. Layne received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University in 2012 and went on to receive her Master of Music degree from the Ohio State University in 2014. She has studied percussion with Susan Powell, Joseph Krygier, Paul Buyer, Mark Spede, and Bill Stowe. Layne is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society, serving the South Carolina chapter as the Communications Officer. She proudly endorses Artifact Percussion.
