Curriculum Vitae

Kelly Digby Peebles is a specialist in Renaissance French literature and book history. Her research considers women’s contributions to and roles in book culture and religious life of 16th century France. She recently published a bilingual edition and study of Jeanne Flore’s Tales and Trials of Love (Toronto: CRRS/Iter, 2014), a work that has never before been available in English and raises important questions about literary circles and gender in Renaissance Lyon. Prof. Peebles loves spending time in rare book libraries examining 16th century editions of the books that she studies. She also has strong interests in descriptive bibliography, translation studies, and gender studies. She currently is working on literary representations of Renée de France in the work of several 16th century evangelical writers, particularly the poetry of Clément Marot.
