Canvas is supported by Instructure, an American company founded in 2008 that currently employs just under 1,000 employees. Operating under a philosophy of "openness," Instructure has cultivated a large support community of active contributors over the last eight years. The Clemson community has joined a network of some 1,600 other schools that share and support one another in utilizing the platform to its fullest.
