Profile

I retired at the end of the academic year in 2018. I have returned to teach as a visiting professor on an as-needed basis. I served as the Chair of the Clemson University Institutional Review Board from 2008-2018. I also served as a faculty senator. I was the director of the Departmental Honors Program in the Department of Public Health Sciences. I came to Clemson in the fall of 1996 after completing a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention focusing on HIV AIDS prevention.

Research Interests

My primary research interests were alcohol abuse among adolescents and young adults, health care access for the poor and underserved, and exploring the social, economic, and political factors that influence population health.
