Profile

I am an Associate Dean of the Graduate School, with particular emphasis on student professional development, health, and well-being. I also am a Professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management. My speciality area is recreational therapy, and I am proud to be part of such a robust program! We have a fantastic team of faculty and students who are working to improve the delivery of recreational therapy for individuals with chronic disease and disability. I am a past president of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA), and was recently named Distinguished Fellow of ATRA. My current research is focusing on a large fall prevention initiative aimed at reducing falls in rural older adults through evidence-based programming.

Research Interests

My research focuses on the use of yoga and other complementary health practices as a therapeutic intervention for individuals with chronic disease and their caregivers. I also focus on the use of evidence-based practices as a means to reduce falls in older adults.
