El-Gindy joined CU-ICAR as an adjunct professor in 2013. He is a Professor of Automotive Engineering at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Oshawa, Canada. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Concordia and Ain Shams University. He is a former Senior Scientist, the Director of the Vehicle Dynamics and Simulation Research Center and a Graduate Faculty Member at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) of Penn State University.  He is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Heavy Vehicle Systems. He serves as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and former Chair of its Vehicle Design Committee.

Dr El-Gindy is an expert in heavy vehicle dynamics, tire mechanics, military wheeled vehicles, and crash simulation and testing. He has numerous publications in both international conferences and journals. He and his graduate students’ technical papers were the recipients of the best paper awards in 2005 and 2010 from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Also, he has received prestigious awards from the US Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for his outstanding research work in 1997 and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for organizing a Heavy Vehicle Rollover short course in 1993.
