Michael Mino is a strategic, technical entrepreneur with a strong engineering background. His first business pursuit was as an independent contractor delivering the morning newspaper for the Buffalo Courier-Express. He added the technology component, starting his next business, Mike’s Electronics, providing electronic repair services to his newspaper clients, neighbors and high school teachers.
He began his professional career as an automation engineer for Eastman Kodak Company where he formulated computer system strategies for their Engineering Division and coordinated new automation implementations. Michael then co-founded his first entrepreneurial venture, ORMEC Systems Corp, which develops and manufactures high-performance, electronic motion control systems used in industrial automation. This was followed by intrapreneurial roles as EVP and General Manager of Vinton, Inc and VP of Engineering and Quality for Hansford Automation Systems. He most recently served as CEO of Object Factory and PropertyBoss Solutions, both companies he led the establishment of.
Michael holds a Master of Business Administration with a finance emphasis from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (1978) and the Master of Engineering (1976) and Bachelor of Science (1975) degrees in electrical engineering, both from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
At CU-ICAR, Michael leads AuE8930 – Autovation. The spring course (Autovation - Intrapreneurship and Innovation Management) focuses on the engineer innovating and applying business concepts within an established organization. The fall course (Autovation - Entrepreneurship and Technology Management) focuses on the engineer innovating and applying business concepts to create a new organization.
