David Smith joined the CU-ICAR faculty in September 2012. He received his Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems in 2002 from Clemson. He received a Masters of Science in Computing in 2005 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 2009 from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Prior to joining the CU-ICAR faculty, David had a successful career as a software development consultant. From 2002 - 2006, he worked as defense contractor in the Washington DC area developing large-scale enterprise software systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) intelligence activities. In 2008, he was a graduate student researcher at the BMW Information Technology Research Center (ITRC) on the CU-ICAR campus. From 2009 – 2012 he worked in the motorsports industry developing a variety of software tools for NASCAR and Formula One organizations. Dr. Smith’s research interests lie at the intersection of software development, vehicle design, and human-computer interaction.
