Biography
Hesha Gamble is a native of Charleston, SC. She graduated from Clemson University in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, and in 2001 with a Master's degree in the same field. She began her professional career in January 2002 as the Traffic Engineer for the County of Greenville. In May 2007, she was promoted to County Engineer. As the County Engineer, she is responsible for 77 employees while overseeing the engineering and maintenance of all County roads, approximately 1700 miles serving over 450,000 citizens. She obtained her Professional Engineer's (P.E.) license in 2005 and in 2007, became registered as the first female Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) in the state of South Carolina.
Mrs. Gamble is an active member of her community and professional organizations. She is the past president of the SC Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and serves as President-Elect of the Upstate Branch of the SC Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA). She was a member of the 2008-09 APWA Emerging Leaders Academy and in 2010 was appointed to serve on the APWA's National Diversity Committee. She is currently a member of the National Leadership & Management Committee. She has served as a panelist at APWA Congress, presenter at SC APWA and SC ITE Conferences and has been a panelist on several APWA webinars as well as published several articles in the APWA Reporter magazine.
Mrs. Gamble is also very active in several church, civic and community organizations. She is the past Athletic Director at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Simpsonville, overseeing athletic activities for over 1200 members, and currently serves as the Fellowship Cluster Leader overseeing six ministries. She has also served as a youth basketball coach for over 12 years.
Mrs. Gamble is a recipient of the YWCA's Dream Achiever Award for 2012, was named as one of Greenville's Best and Brightest Under 35 in 2012 by Greenville Magazine and Greenville First Bank, and is also the recipient of Clemson University's College of Engineering and Science 2012 Outstanding Young Alumni Award. She was recently appointed the Board of the Piedmont Health Foundation.
Mrs. Gamble is a past president of the Greenville (SC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In her "free" time, Mrs. Gamble enjoys scrapbooking, running, playing basketball, reading and spending quality time with her family. Mrs. Gamble has been married to Jason for over 11 years and they have a son, Justus.
