About

Designing the Future

Clemson's IE program has substantially increased its research profile over the last decade. With continued investments in personnel and facilities, it is becoming firmly established as a top destination for industrial engineering research and education. Clemson researchers are now responsible for groundbreaking studies in today's foremost engineering challenges in supply chain and logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, transportation system design, information technology, automotive engineering, national security, and finance.

The commitment and effort that our faculty, staff, and students give daily is reflected in the top-20 ranking by the U.S. News and World Report for industrial engineering programs.

Academic Excellence

The Department of Industrial Engineering offers a full spectrum of programs that lead to Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Master of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy. Students have opportunities to expand their education beyond the classroom by conducting research, studying abroad, engaging in service projects and applying their knowledge in real-world settings. Students can choose technical electives to complete an emphasis on a particular subdiscipline, such as optimization and naturalistic decision-making.

Creative Inquiry and student participation in faculty labs emphasize research throughout the academic experience at Clemson. Adding involvement in student organizations allows students to broaden their horizons and interests.

    Lasting Impacts

The success of our program in IE here at Clemson can be measured by examining the accomplishments of our alumni. Roughly 90 percent of recent Clemson IE graduates work in industry or academia. Whichever path they take, our alumni stay in touch with their alma mater, offering time and treasure to make the Clemson Experience even better for the next generation.
