JACOB GANTT is a Lab Technologist in the Machining and Technical Services' Fabrication Shop. He is also a Welder, Fabricator, and Assistant in the 3D Print Shop. Jacob performs welding to prescribed standards from metal and materials according to blueprints. Operation and maintenance of 3D printers.

PROJECTS
BOILER TUBES WELDING: Laser Welding dissimilar metals and TIG welding on stainless steel tubing for sensor on research for boiler tubes – Dr. Hai Xiao, Electrical and Computer Engineering
I-BEAM CONSTRUCTION: Fabricated and Stick weld 18’ x 16’ I-beam square frame to use a hydraulic press to test different compositions of concrete for Civil Engineering.
ENGINEERING BRIDGE TABLE: Fabricated the Bridge Table in Holtzendorff Hall
AUTOCLAVE COMPONENTS: Weld precious metals (silver, gold, platinum, and Inconel) to grow crystals in autoclave – Chemical Engineering
3D PROTOTYPES: 3D print part prototypes for several Bioengineering student research projects – Dr John Desjardins, Bioengineering

SKILLS
- Precision multi-process welding. SMAW(Stick), GMAW(MIG), GTAW(TIG)
- Skilled in forming metal by operating shears, press brakes, notchers, ironworkers, rollers
- Skilled in the setup and operation of high-tech welding machines
- Experience with setup and operation of Laser Welding
- Experience with the operation of 3D printers
- Design part models using SolidWorks
- Consult welding practices and 3D printing technology to best serve the student and researcher in their goal of a finished product
