City of Charleston Guns

In 2017, the WLCC performed conservation treatment on a series of cannon owned by the City of Charleston. As part of our treatment plan, Conservators removed the failing coating systems and corrosion from the guns using the ThermaTech® system. 

The cannons are of particular interest to the history of the City of Charleston and included: A Revolutionary War era cannon of British origin, an extremely rare Confederate Blakely pattern rifle, a pair of 3 inch ordnance rifles and a broken cannon breech.

The conservation treatment was completed in 2017 and the cannons were returned to the City of Charleston Parks Department.
