About
I am a passionate family physician and medical educator with areas of interest including academic medicine, chronic disease management, and lifestyle medicine. I completed residency and fellowship at Atrium Health and have worked with Prisma since 2015. I have worked collaboratively with Clemson including most recently in serving on a dissertation committee for a doctorate candidate and contributing as a co-author on several manuscripts related to the dissertation project. I look forward to continuing to develop the research infrastructure within the department of family medicine to investigate the best way to care for the population of the upstate of South Carolina and beyond
How their research is transforming health care
Research into the field of optimal primary care delivery is incredibly important for the overall health of the country. Identifying novel ways to address the growing burden of chronic disease by providing compassionate and cost-effective care is critical to address the growing public health challenges our country faces. While we are working to solve these larger problems within our healthcare delivery system, equally important is the mission of educating our future healthcare workforce to provide care in this new model. Working on identifying the most effective ways to educate through academic research is also critical.
