About

Alex Ewing received both his Master's in Applied Economics and Statistics and his Doctorate in Applied Economics from Clemson University. Beginning in 2013, he has worked as the Senior Biostatistician at Prisma Health–Upstate. He provides analytical research consultations across a wide variety of clinical departments and conducts data collection, management, and analysis for multiple ongoing studies.

How their research is transforming health care

Dr. Ewing has provided his consulting expertise on over 100 clinical research and quality improvement projects and has been a co-author on over 40 of these projects. He has collaborated with a variety of Prisma physicians on projects related to opioid use and reduction. He has also assisted in data evaluation and management in studies ranging from the goal of treating severe obesity in studying the efficacy of robotic retromuscular hernia repair for high-risk patients. His experience with a wide variety of data types, including complex multidimensional databases, allows him to be involved in an extensive range of interdisciplinary statistical analyses.
