How their research is transforming health care

Dr. Hudson’s work transforms health care by emphasizing the impact of
social, behavioral, and psychological determinants of health on clinical service access and outcomes. This emphasis expands practice-centric inquiry invested in examining care interventions’ clinical effectiveness. His work also considers the myriad social factors portending individual and community need for clinical services. Dr. Hudson’s work also transforms health care by ensuring patient values and preferences inform outcome evaluations. Apart from his own research, Dr. Hudson collaborates with CUSHR faculty Drs. Britt and Sherrill to facilitate inter-institutional collaborations between Clemson University, Prisma Health–Upstate, and Prisma Health–Upstate’s other academic partners. Dr. Hudson’s efforts include co-developing the clinical research infrastructure essential to research execution, and intermural education on research design in clinical settings.
