About
Dr. Kahler is a practicing emergency medicine physician. He also serves as the Director of Clinical Practice for the Prisma Health–Upstateemergency department and is a core faculty member for the Prisma Health–Upstateemergency medicine residency. He completed a 2-year research fellowship at Indiana University under the mentorship of Dr. Jeffrey Kline, an internationally-renowned researcher for pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis. Dr. Kahler’s current research interests center around emergency department operations, quality, and efficiency. His other interests focus on resident and medical student education.
How their research is transforming health care
Dr. Kahler’s research focuses on translating evidence-based medicine to active clinical practice. His aim is to improve efficiency and optimize throughput through the ED, while maintaining patient safety. His partnerships with the CUSHR faculty are aimed at interdepartmental collaboration, and he has enjoyed working with faculty from the management and statistics departments. He has submitted a PCORI grant previously with Clemson collaborators.
