Dr. Stafford serves as pathology chair and medical director of laboratories at Prisma Health–Upstate. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. His pathology residency was completed at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile. He also finished a cytopathology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology as well as cytopathology.
How their research is transforming health care
Dr. Stafford has been working to facilitate collaboration between the Pathology Department and other departments within Prisma Health–Upstate. He works with Information Technology Services to explore innovative ways to utilize technology and better serve the health care team, as well as to provide better patient care. He has also implemented new programs and ideologies for medical education, and worked to develop an interdepartmental research program to serve undergraduates, graduate students, medical students, residents and other physicians. He works to promote excellence through evaluations of patient care through conferences and multi-disciplinary clinics.
