Stephanie Tanner earned her B.S. in Biological Sciences and M.S. in Bioengineering from Clemson University. She began her clinical research career in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Prisma Health (formerly Greenville Health System) in 2002. Most recently, she was a Research Manager covering the Departments of Orthopedic Surgery, Anesthesia and Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital. Currently, she is the Director of the Clinical Research Unit – Upstate for Prisma Health.Mrs. Tanner has authored or co-authored more than 50 publications and 3 book chapters. Her research and professional interests include care of patients with musculoskeletal injuries or conditions and clinical research education.

Most of Mrs. Tanner’s research has focused on the care of patients with musculoskeletal injuries or conditions. Her research skills include a broad range of academic research. She has proven skills in protocol development, study feasibility, data collection processes, study management, and human subject protection. She has also collaborated with a number of basic science researchers on projects related to orthopedic biomaterials, biomechanics driving performance after injury, and rehabilitation evaluations. As Director, Clinical Research Unit-Upstate, Mrs. Tanner is uniquely positioned to support research collaborations and initiatives across the system and its academic partners to transform healthcare in our community and beyond.
