Sarah Tomashfeski is a board-certified Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner with over 9 years of nursing and Nurse Practitioner experience. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and started her career at Greenville Health System, now Prisma Health, as a medical surgical ICU nurse completing the year-long nurse residency program for new graduates. She moved to the Boston area and continued her nursing career as critical care nurse. She progressed into a leadership role by becoming the co-chair of her unit, Practice Council, and distinguishing herself as a clinical leader. She decided to continue her education at Boston College. During graduate school, she developed a love for teaching and worked as a graduate assistant in pathophysiology and became a part-time faculty member in adult health assessment. She started her NP career in Boston in pulmonary medicine and have truly enjoyed working with this patient population. She decided to relocate back to Greenville and continued to work in the Pulmonary specialty. During her past 3 years at Prisma Health, she has been selected as the lead outpatient advanced practice provider for pulmonary medicine. She is a part of the executive committee. How their research is transforming health care
Tomashefski’s research interests are focused on health promotion and disease prevention among vulnerable populations. She is passionate about lung cancer screening and pulmonary medicine. She would like to further investigate health disparities that may be possibly affected by lack of screenings and resources in rural communities. She is also interested in pursuing research regarding advanced practice providers and their role in improving health outcomes and delivering care.
