About

Jackie Cha is an assistant professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in industrial engineering at Purdue University. Before her faculty appointment, she was a lead reviewer in the Office of Surgical and Infection Control Devices at the Food and Drug Administration. Cha’s research focuses on applying human factors and ergonomics principles by leveraging emerging technology and analytical tools to measure and improve individual and team skills in clinical environments for training, team performance, and patient safety.

How their research is transforming health care

The goal of Cha’s research is to improve the lives of health care professionals by leveraging novel technologies to enhance their performance; therefore, their interactions with patients and society in the socio-technical healthcare landscape. She is interested in measuring data from humans to develop models to assess skills and implement interventions to improve teams’ performance in health care environments.
