About
Tracy Fasolino completed her BSN in 1993 from Clemson University. She pursued her master’s degree at the University of Texas-Health Science Center, graduating in 2001 as a Family Nurse Practitioner with emphasis on Emergency Medicine. She attended University of South Carolina and graduated with a PhD in Nursing Science in 2010. She has received several awards during her academic education for excellence, innovation, and promising research. Dr. Fasolino teaches graduate level courses on advanced pharmacology and adult illnesses, focusing on preparing advanced practice nurses for the challenges of patient care. Dr. Fasolino has worked to expand and redesign simulation initiatives for undergraduate as well as graduate nursing students. She has an active NP practice with Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in Greenville, SC in the inpatient and outpatient Palliative Care Clinic. Her research interests and funding focus on palliative care initiatives & outcomes for end-stage pulmonary and cardiovascular patients. She has collaborative project with Bon Secours St. Francis and Greenville Health System related to palliative care. Dr. Fasolino has a passion for advancing direct patient care involvement in evidence-based practice and research and the role of simulation for training students and practicing medical providers.

How their research is transforming health care
Fasolino is very passionate about transforming health care for patients with chronic, debilitating diseases through palliative care efforts. Addressing symptom burden, access to care, care modeling initiatives, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams are elements of palliative care that will improve the quality of life for these patients. Integrating primary palliative care into all providers is an element that will transform healthcare significantly. Dr. Fasolino believes that her dual skill set, Palliative Care NP and Nurse Researcher, will bridge the gap readily apparent between researchers and clinicians. Understanding the challenges of a clinician while utilizing the lens of a researcher will allow her to address critical elements for transforming health care for these heavily burdened patients.
