About

Dr. Joseph is Professor of Architecture and Industrial Engineering, Spartanburg Regional Health System Endowed Chair in Architecture + Health Design and Director of the Center for Health Facilities Design and Testing at Clemson University. Dr. Joseph is a leading researcher in healthcare design, focusing on the impact of the built environment on patient and staff safety and care outcomes. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and healthcare systems to conduct evidence-based facility design research, using simulation and prototyping to test design solutions that improve safety in high-risk patient care settings. As a principal investigator, Dr. Joseph has secured millions in grant funding from organizations such as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Kresge Foundation, and the U.S. Green Building Council. Her groundbreaking research on operating room design led to the development of a prototype OR, now implemented in ambulatory surgery centers nationwide, enhancing patient safety. Anjali’s work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals and she has spoken widely to national and international audiences.
