How their research is transforming health care

Dr. Traylor works closely with partners in healthcare to apply organizational science topics to improve outcomes for patients and providers. Though this research has largely focused on teamwork, Dr. Traylor’s work in healthcare has also integrated concepts related to training, diversity and inclusion, leadership development, and employee well-being. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Traylor published multiple works applying team science to healthcare teams. Working with Dr. Bryan Ohning at Prisma Health, Dr. Traylor is currently investigating teamwork in the NICU. These projects focus on how teams of physicians and neonatal nurse practitioners can improve collaboration with team members within the NICU (e.g., NICU nurses) as well as with patient families to improve teamwork and patient outcomes.
