About

Margaret Ann Wetsel is a Professor of Nursing in the Clemson University School of Nursing (CUSON). Since 2017, she has served as the Associate Director, Academic Programs. In this role, she provides leadership support for CUSON’s undergraduate and graduate nursing and PhD in Healthcare Genetics and Genomics program. She is the liaison for the CUSON-Prisma Health preferred educational relationship and delivery of nursing education programs. She co-leads the CUSON-Prisma Health Joint Nursing Education Committee Educational Programs, Clinical Placements and Onboarding/Clearance subcommittee. In addition, she also collaborates with Upstate healthcare system nursing leaders from AnMed Health, Bon Secours St. Francis, Patrick B. Harris Hospital and Prisma Health on nursing education and practice outcomes. Her clinical expertise is in psychiatric-mental health nursing, inpatient and community settings.

How their research is transforming health care

As a Project Director, Margaret led the HRSA ANE-SANE Caring for Sexual Assault Survivors funded projects in 2018-2021 and 2022-2024. In addition, she was a co-investigator on the 2019-2022 HRSA funded ANEW project (education integration; carryover 2022-2025) and co-investigator on HRSA funded Go Mobile grant (quality & safety officer; 2022-2026). Other funded projects include a Greenville Health Authority grant to educate nurse practitioners and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP) Outreach programs from 2004-2016 with United States Department of Agriculture/SC Department of Social Services.
