SC NPIP Requirements for Avian Influenza (AI) Clean Breeding
Participants must do the following to maintain U.S. Avian Influenza (AI) Clean status:
- Follow all the requirements for U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean status.
- The breeding stock, replacement breeders and birds used as “setters or brooders” and any show birds (up to 30 birds) must be Avian Influenza tested negative every 6 months. Each bird tested shall be identified with an Official State/NPIP numbered band.
- The avian influenza samples (throat swabs) will be collected by State Inspectors and submitted to the Clemson Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for PCR testing.
