Within the Department of Plant Industry lies Plant Protection, an important unit dedicated to protecting South Carolina’s most valuable natural resource – plants. While protection is what drives the unit, three programs act as the vehicle for driving this protection of South Carolina plants; they are Nursery and Dealer Certification, Invasive Species, and Apiary Inspection. Collectively, these programs regulate the movement of plants and honeybees and their associated pests within the state. Surveys, licensing, permitting and inspections are just a few of the tools utilized by Plant Protection in these programs. For more information on each of these programs, please follow the links provided or contact the managers of these programs with the contact information to the left.
