  • Our Mission Statement

    The Agricultural Service Laboratory (ASL), which began at Clemson Agricultural College in 1938 as a public service soil-testing facility, exists to provide information and analytical testing for soil, plant tissue, feed and forage, animal waste, irrigation water, compost, and research samples. The mission of the ASL is accomplished by the following:

    1. Operating analytical laboratory sections

    2. Ensuring a high level of analytical precision and accuracy by implementing quality control and updated technology
    3. Participating in national and regional sample exchange programs
    4. Maintaining a record keeping, data processing, and reporting section
    5. Reporting timely results to clients

    6. Providing clients with lime and fertilizer recommendations based on soil tests
    7. Assisting clients directly or finding resources to assist them
    8. Accepting samples from individual clients, homeowners, farmers, commercial dealers, Extension Agents, Extension Specialists, and researchers
