Preparing the next generation of automotive innovators
Clemson University's Department of Automotive Engineering is a leader in preparing the next generation of automotive innovators. Through both undergraduate and graduate programs, students dive into the complex world of vehicle design, manufacturing, and systems integration.
The program's strong emphasis on practical skills, combined with cutting-edge research in areas like autonomous vehicles and sustainable transportation, prepares graduates for diverse career paths.
A unique feature of our program is the Deep Orange program, an intensive hands-on opportunity where students work alongside industry partners to create and build prototype vehicles from the ground up. Students also have the option to intern with major automotive companies, giving them plenty of real-world experience before graduation.
Alumni find success as vehicle development engineers, powertrain specialists, automotive designers, and research engineers at companies ranging from traditional automakers like BMW and Toyota to established tech companies like Alphabet and Siemens.
