Clemson University's installation and induction of the first class of Phi Beta Kappa members was historic. This class of 74 members in course, along with their families, administration and special guests, joined in a long-standing honor bestowed upon outstanding liberal arts and sciences students.
The nation's oldest and most widely known academic honor society, Phi Beta Kappa celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Phi Beta Kappa has more than half a million members and chapters at 280 American colleges and universities.
Phi Beta Kappa members demonstrate intellectual integrity, tolerance for other views and a broad range of academic interests. About one college senior out of 100 nationwide will be invited to join Phi Beta Kappa each year.
Members are Phi Beta Kappans for life. Read about some of our nation's most notable Phi Beta Kappa members.
