Kathleen Thum received her BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and her MFA from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. In recent drawings, paintings and wall installations, Kathleen Thum obsessively depicts the pipeline form to reference the vast and intricate production systems of our industrial landscape. Through the execution of abstractly rendering pipelines as an organic expansion, Kathleen presents these structures as growing and altering landscape; becoming their own living entities. In the work, Kathleen examines the ongoing shifting of power between mankind and the earth, and present the intermingling of manufactured man-made systems and subsurface, biomorphic configurations.
