Betsy del Monte, FAIA, is an architect with 30 years of experience in high-performance and environmentally responsive design. Her teaching focuses on sustainable design and planning. Besides her teaching at Clemson, she teaches at SMU’s School of Engineering, in the Sustainability and Development Program. As a consultant with Cameron MacAllister, she works with firms and project teams to promote sustainable design and the firm structure to enable it. Betsy has been named a Fellow by the AIA and as a Senior Fellow by the Design Futures Council. She served on the AIA Strategic Council 2018-2020 and was 2021 national Chair of AIA COTE. She holds degrees in architecture from UVA, and Rice University. Betsy lives in Asheville, NC, with her husband, family and two large dogs.
