Jason Hurdich is a Deaf native ASL signer from New York City who has taught college-level ASL and Signed Language Interpretation classes for 30 years at various colleges and universities. Mr. Hurdich received his B.A. in Political Science from Boston University and his Master of Education degree in Signed Language Interpretation from the University of North Florida. Mr. Hurdich is a Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf (RID) Certified Deaf Interpreter and has been interpreting professionally for 20 years as a Deaf Interpreter. Mr. Hurdich has also been active in the interpreting field for 25 years, including as the first-ever Lead Call Center Manager of Spanish VRS services and as a Professional Development Coordinator for ASL Services, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Hurfdich has worked as a researcher for ten years, leading Sign Language Projects for Vcom3D, Inc. and writing federal and state grants to improve STEM and literacy knowledge among Deaf and Hard of Hearing K-12 and post-secondary students. Mr. Hurdich has received numerous awards and accolades for his work in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. He is currently a Senior Lecturer of American Sign Language at Clemson University. Professor Hurdich is the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID), serving a 2021-2024 term. RID is the only national accreditation and certifying organization of signed language interpreters in the United States. In his free time, he enjoys exploring local coffee shops and creating social media content on different platforms.
I am Jason Hurdich, a Senior Lecturer of American Sign Language at Clemson University. I hold a BA in Political Science from Boston University and a Master of Education degree in Signed Language interpretation from the University of North Florida. I am also a RID Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI). I am proud to be a part of the talented and motivated academic community at Clemson, where I have the privilege of developing students' American Sign Language skills. As the ASL Club advisor, I am committed to promoting ASL and Deaf culture on campus. In addition to my role at Clemson, I am currently serving as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. for a 2021-2024 term. I am passionate about advancing the field of interpreting and promoting accessibility for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
