David Foltz studies the intellectual and historical development of Western thought, especially moral and political philosophy in American literature as synthesis and metamorphosis of the Western tradition; primary subjects of study and teaching include Homer, Dante, the literature of the American Founding, Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, and Ellison, among others.
