Research Interests
Scene Design and Lighting Design for the Theatre

Professor David Hartmann was a professor of theatre at Clemson University for 34 years. In addition, to his scenic design work, Professor Hartmann taught a variety of theatre production and performing arts courses. Professional credits include work at various theme parks in Chicago and California, dinner theatres throughout the Midwest, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Professor Hartmann has worked on more than 175 productions and has conducted workshops and presentations at regional theatre conferences in the Southeast and Midwest. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre design from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Master of Fine Arts in Design from the University of Minnesota. A Clemson faculty member since 1990, he has also taught at the University of Minnesota and Missouri Western State College.

Numerous KCACTF Meritorious Acievment Awards for Set Design and Faculty Excellence Award in 1998 by the Clemson University Board of Trustees
