I am a first year PhD student interested in the intersections of culture, gender, and religion from the Gregorian Reformation to the end of Elizabeth I’s reign, with a geographical focus on Ireland and Scotland. I received a BA from the University of Alabama in 2020 and an MA from College of Charleston and the Citadel in 2022. My MA thesis, entitled “Fairies, Ghosts, Charms, and Herbs: An Analysis of the Survival of Folk Magic in Scotland During and After the Reformation,” dealt with Scottish popular religion, particularly during the period of witchcraft prosecutions from 1563 to 1736. I am particularly interested in the social aspects of religion, especially among both lay women and women religious.
