Mike Pulley is an award-winning journalist, poet, and educator. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Clemson University English Department, where he teaches journalism and science writing. He has more than 20 years of experience as a working reporter, won Associated Press awards, and has published more than two thousand articles in daily and weekly newspapers, including the San Francisco Examiner, the Sacramento Bee, and American City Business Journals. His poetry has appeared in national literary journals, including Carolina Quarterly, Another Chicago Magazine, Cold Mountain Review, and Canary. In 2008 he was named a “Pioneer Poet” by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. He earned a B.A. in Communication Studies (1985) from California State University, Sacramento, and an M.A. in Creative Writing (2006) from the same university. His thesis was a creative nonfiction work on white supremacists and their opponents in South Carolina and Idaho.
