Post-Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) Fee
THIS MESSAGE WAS ANNOUNCED ON AUGUST 11, 2014.
In an effort to support the growing number of students participating in the OPT program at Clemson University, a mandatory post-completion OPT fee of $200 was approved by Clemson University in Summer 2014. This non-refundable fee will support the costs of continuing to host the F-1 student record for 12 months after graduation.
Services provided during the post-completion OPT program include:
- Issuance of OPT authorization on I-20
- Provide guidance and support for I-765 government application process
- Weekly OPT workshops and Q&A sessions
- Provide guidance on responses to Requests for Evidence on I-765 applications
- Update employment history throughout OPT experience
- Monitor OPT alerts and email students with compliance issues
- Provide students support with their SEVP Portal
- Reset SEVP Portal Accounts when students are locked out of the accounts

Students eligible for the OPT STEM extension: Effective July 1, 2016 a fee of $200 is charged at the point of initial application for the 24 month extension of OPT and a second charge of $200 will be assessed at the 1 year point during the processing of the annual review. These two fees will cover the costs of providing the services listed above during the 24 month extension period of Optional Practical Training and are non-refundable.
