Six Sigma

Clemson IE Six Sigma Logo

Introduced in 1986, 6σ (Six Sigma) is a set of techniques and tools for process improvement in which 99.99966% of all opportunities to produce some feature of a part are statistically expected to be free of defects.

The Six Sigma Green Belt is for those who would like to specialize in executing Six Sigma projects.  It’s recognition that a student has learned to identify, analyse and solve quality problems within improvement projects.

Upon successful completion with satisfactory scores of IE 3600, IE 3610, & IE 4620, the Industrial Engineering Department of Clemson University will issue a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.  In addition, by submitting a Certificate Plan of Study form before you graduate, the Six Sigma Certification will be permanently noted on your university transcripts.
