PhD. Penn State University
My research group is dedicated to the development, application and dissemination of model validation and uncertainty quantification techniques. Our main emphasis is in structural dynamics and solid mechanics applications with focus on structural systems coupled with other domains. Funding for our research is provided by several federal agencies including National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, Department of Transportation, Department of Education, Los Alamos National Laboratory as well as industry organizations and partners, such as National Masonry Concrete Association and Vulcraft Inc. Our focus directly relates to the goals of the Society of Experimental Mechanics (SEM) model validation and uncertainty quantification (MVUQ) technical division and ASME Verification, Validation and Uncertainty Quantification (VVUQ) technical community.
I hold a doctorate degree in civil and environmental engineering from Penn State University. I have recently returned to Clemson University in July 2023 as Associate Vice President for the Charleston Innovation Centers (located at the CURI Campus in Charleston, SC). I served at my alma mater since 2018 as the Harry and Arlene Schell Professor and a Department Head in the College of Engineering. I initially joined Clemson University in 2010 and had been provost’s distinguished professor and professor of environmental engineering and earth sciences, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and civil engineering. I’ve published over 100 journal articles and my work has been awarded more than $19M in externally funded grants.
