Hassan Masoud

About Me

I am a Dean's Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University and the director of the Complex Fluids and Active Matter Lab. My research focuses on fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, and the hydrodynamics of soft and active matter. I employ a combination of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and experimental measurement to address significant challenges at the nexus of engineering, physics, and biology.

Education

• I earned my B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2006.
• I continued my education at the State University of New York at Buffalo, receiving an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2009.
• I then pursued and completed my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2012.
• My postdoctoral research was jointly supervised by Michael Shelley at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Howard Stone at Princeton University.

I received the NSF CAREER Award and currently serve as an Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor of the Journal of Engineering Mathematics.
