2023 Tigers for Inclusion, Diversity, and Ethics Conference
Theme: But I Am Ethical! The Making of an Ethical Student with Global Awareness in Mind
Dates: Monday, April 3 - Thursday, April 6, 2023
The Rutland Institute's TIDE Conference seeks to inform participants of ethical dilemmas created by the intersection of diversity and inclusion as it relates to specific academic disciplines and to move participants to address those dilemmas. The conference will critically examine how ethics and diversity intersect, diverge, and create a more just society and a university culture that promotes equity and respect.
The 2023 theme of the Clemson TIDE Conference – “But I AM Ethical! The Making of an Ethical Student with Global Awareness in Mind” – challenges the common understanding of what ethics is and how that understanding influences every facet of our lives. No one admits to being unethical; in fact, most people easily find justification for every decision they make regardless of the outcomes. The real question is: do your decisions take into account the pure essence of what is right vs. what is easy vs. what is personally beneficial? To further complicate things, how does having a global perspective nurture ethical decision-making? How does global awareness help foster ethical behavior? Join the seven academic colleges of Clemson University as we explore the intersectionality of Ethics, Diversity and Globalism, and various academic disciplines.
