EXCITE Project

Clemson EFNEP was recently awarded a grant through the Extension Collaborative on Immunization Teaching and Engagement (EXCITE) project. The EXCITE project is an Interagency Agreement with the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funding the Cooperative Extension System to address health disparities among rural and underserved communities.

Bridge Access Program

As you are probably aware, COVID-19 vaccinations play a vital role in protecting our community and reducing the spread of the virus. However, some community members may lack access to reliable information about vaccination opportunities. Therefore, Clemson EFNEP is partnering with the CDC’s Bridge Access Program, which provides free COVID-19 vaccines to adults without health insurance and adults whose insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccine costs. The project aims to increase awareness of eligibility for free updated COVID-19 vaccines among uninsured and under-insured adults and to increase awareness of where and how to get a free updated COVID-19 vaccine through the Bridge Access Program.

We are committed to promoting public health and ensuring our community has access to essential services and information. And since Clemson EFNEP Nutrition Educators are already trusted sources of information in their communities, they are being utilized to share this vital information through integration into their existing Eating Smart Being Active (ESBA) adult programs, as well as sharing flyers at community events and other trusted partner sites, such as their community recreation centers, Veteran Affairs and Medicaid offices. All participating Nutrition Educators have personalized county flyers (example shown) that share locations of free Bridge Access Program COVID-19 vaccines in their community. From July 1st to August 31st, EFNEP will strive to improve our communities through COVID-19 vaccine awareness. So be on the lookout for updates on our progress!

The Bridge Access Program provides free updated COVID-19 vaccines for any adult 18 years or older without health insurance or whose plan doesn’t fully cover COVID-19 vaccination. You don’t need to sign up. Just tell a participating provider whether you have coverage.
