Nematode Survey
The nematode pest survey is a cooperative effort by Clemson-DPI and USDA-APHIS-PPQ to protect South Carolina’s agricultural industry and preserve a safe and healthy environment. DPI filed and survey inspectors will conduct surveys for Pale Cyst Nematode (Globodera pallida), Mexican corn cyst nematode (Punctodera chalcoensis), Mediterranean cereal cyst nematode (Heterodera latipons), British root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne artiellia), False columbia root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne fallax), Pigeonpea cyst nematode (Heterodera cajani), and Chickpea cyst nematode (Heterodera cicero), all of which are exotic invasive nematodes that are of concern to row and field crops throughout the United States. 42 sites will be sampled throughout the state with a focus on soybeans, cotton, tomatoes, peppers, corn, wheat, rye and potatoes.
