Bark Beetle Survey
As a cooperative project between Clemson-DPI and USDA-APHIS-PPQ we will conduct an Exotic Wood Borer/Bark Beetle survey, bundled with a Walnut Twig Beetle survey thus protecting South Carolina’s forest resources and helping to preserve a safe and healthy environment. This survey will provide data for the presence or absence of Six toed ips (Ips sexdentatus), European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus), Mediterranean pine engraver (Orthotomicus erosus), Oak ambrosia beetle (Platypus quercivorus), and Walnut twig beetle (Pityopthorous junlandis).
Pines, Oaks, and Black walnuts are essential components of southeastern forests and provide an ecological as well as an economic benefit to South Carolina.
