Profile/About Me
I am a Principal Lecturer in Physics and Astronomy. I am a non-tenure-track faculty whose focus is on the teaching mission of the university. I work with students in general education physics courses and engage them through the promotion of critical thinking, interpretation of real-world situations and assessing information. I teach courses on the Physics of Magic and the Physics of Sports.
Research Interests
My research interests focus on improving educational outcomes in physics, particularly for underprepared students. My work emphasizes the development and implementation of pedagogical strategies designed to close opportunity gaps and enhance student engagement and performance in introductory physics courses.
Courses Taught
Physics of Sports: (PHYS 1800) Introductory level General Education Course designed to draw students into taking physics who otherwise would have this experience. Physics knowledge is coupled with critical thinking and analysis, taking data (video, news, Journal articles) and assessing the information.
General Physics I & II (PHYS 2070 and 2080): General Education Course for pre-professional students focused on developing critical thinking, assessment and problem solving skills within physics.
