NRT RIES: Resilient Infrastructure and Environmental Systems
Clemson University's new graduate research program in Resilient Infrastructure Systems integrates advanced techniques in modeling, simulation and data science with other engineering and science disciplines to identify and mitigate the risks of complex, interdependent infrastructure systems. Graduates of this program will have the skills, knowledge and competences needed to conceptualize complex systems where physical, cyber and human infrastructure elements converge and transform this conceptual understanding into reliable computational models that are validated by data. They will also be equipped to effectively communicate with decision makers to ensure cohesion between science and policy; and to take on roles in industry, government and non-profit organizations as well as academia.
OUR MISSION
The program in Resilient Infrastructure and Environmental Systems Engineering and Science will produce professionals who can:
- ANALYZE complex interdisciplinary problems where physical, cyber and human infrastructure elements converge;
- BUILD reliable, integrated computational models of infrastructure systems that are validated by real world data;
- COLLABORATE with peers in other disciplines; and
- COMMUNICATE effectively with decision makers and the public.
